[Latin: right of a third party] A defence raised by a party who is sued in respect of property alleging that some third party has a better claim to the property than the claimant. The Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977 provides that this is a good defence to an action in conversion, but a special procedure is laid down for the joinder of the third party in the action. |
