Supreme Court of the United Kingdom
A court established under the Constitutional Reform Act 2005 to replace the Lords of Appeal in Ordinary sitting in the House of Lords as the highest appeal court in the UK. In October 2009 the judges lost their right to speak and vote in the Lords and began to sit in the nearby Supreme Court. The maximum number of judges appointed to hear cases in the Supreme Court is 12 (including a president and deputy president). |
