indecency n. Conduct that the average person would find shocking or revolting. There are common-law offences of outraging public decency and conspiring to outrage public decency (Shaw v DPP [1962] AC 220 (HL); Knuller Ltd v DPP [1973] AC 435 (HL)). Examples might include indecent exposure or staging an indecent exhibition. Indecency is a question of fact that is left in each case to the jury to decide. |
