organ donation Following the introduction of the Organ Donation (Deemed Consent) Act 2019, from 20 May 2020 all adults in England are now considered to have agreed to be an organ donor when they die unless they have recorded a decision not to donate or are in one of the excluded groups. This is also known as Max and Keira’s Law. In Wales, legislation entering into force in December 2015 created “deemed consent”. This means that if you have not registered a decision with regard to organ and tissue donation, you will be considered to have no objection. In Scotland, legislation to introduce a “deemed authorization system” came into force on 26 March 2021. |
