perfect gift
A gift is perfect when the property is transferred from the donor to the donee. Once the gift has been perfected, it is irreversible and the property belongs to the donee. A mere promise to make a gift is unenforceable (“equity will not assist a volunteer”; “equity will not perfect an imperfect gift”). See also constitution of trusts. |
