In family proceedings, a person who is not a party to the marriage is made a party to court proceedings between the husband and the wife: Keiko Maruko v Yoshio Maruko (CACV 32/95, unreported). Most commonly the co-respondent is the person or persons who allegedly committed adultery with either the husband or the wife and is made a party to the proceedings: P v P (CACV 256/96, unreported). 2. On making application to join the Employees Compensation Assistance Fund Board as a co-respondent, the applicant must show some compelling reason or a good arguable case for joining the Board as a party co the proceedings: Fok Por v Shum Shuk Ching [1992] 1 HKC 581.
