释义	選舉主任 An electoral officer appointed by the Electoral Affairs Commission for each constituency in respect of the Legislative Council elections, the election committee for the purposes of the Legislative Council Ordinance, and for each constituency in respect of the district councils elections. A returning officer has such functions and duties as are conferred or imposed on him by or under the Legislative Council Ordinance or the District Councils Ordinance, as the case may be: Legislative Council Ordinance (Cap 542) s 78(3); District Councils Ordinance (Cap 547) s 75(2). A returning officer is under an obligation to report to the Electoral Affairs Commission any irregularity in relation to an election: Electoral Affairs Commission (Electoral Procedure) (Legislative Council) Regulation (Cap 541D) s 101(1); Electoral Affairs Commission (Electoral Procedure) (District Councils) Regulation (Cap 541F) s 101(1). 選舉管理委員會就立法會每一選區，為《立法會條例》的選舉委員會及就區議會選舉的每一區而委任的選舉人員。視乎情況而定，選舉主任具有或根據《立法會條例》或《區議會條例》賦予他的職能或委予他的職責：《立法會條例》（第542章）第78(3)條；《區議會條例》（第547章）第 75(2)條。選舉主任有責任向選舉管理委員會報告任何與選舉有關的不符合規定之處：《選舉管理委員會（選舉程序）（立法會）規例》（第541D章）第 101(1) 條；《選舉管理委員會（選舉程序）（區議會）規例》（第541F章）第101(1)條。
