| 释义 | 妻子 A female partner of a man by a valid marriage: Separation and Maintenance Orders Ordinance (Cap 16) s 2. The meaning of ‘wife’ may vary according to Chinese law and custom in the will of a Chinese testator: Leung Sai Lun, Robert v Leung May Ling & Ors [1998] 1 HKC 26 (CA). At common law, a wife had no capacity to contract, no right to own property, and was unable to have an independent domicile. These common law principles have been abrogated by legislation: for example, Married Persons Status Ordinance (Cap 182).
