| 释义 | 鬥獸 To cause, procure or assist at the fighting of any animal, or to keep, use, manage, or act or assist in the management of any premises or place for the purpose, or partly for the purpose, of fighting or baiting any animal: Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Ordinance (Cap 169) s 3(1)(e). Any person committing baiting is liable to a penalty for cruelty to animal. For example, fighting of two crickets: R v Lam Fun [1958] 1 HKLR 33. Coursing rabbits with dogs in an enclosure with no escape, or using domestic animals, such as dogs or cats, in the destruction of vermin such as rats or foxes, did not amount to baiting: Pitts v Millar LR 9 QB 380; Crown Prosecution Service v Barry (1989) 153 JP 557.
