Religion |
A system of ideas and practices, usually involving a belief in the supernatural. There exists no formularised legal criterion, whether of inclusion or exclusion, for determining whether a given system constitutes a religion. However, the essential attributes of religion include faith in a god and worship of that god (Barralet v A-G [1980] 3 All ER 918, 1 WLR 1565), and acceptance of canons of conduct in order to give effect to one’s belief in a supernatural Being, Thing or Principle (Church of the New Faith v Cmr of Pay-roll Tax (Vic) (1983) 154 CLR 120). The law relating to religion in Hong Kong is primarily concerned with the extent of the relationship between the common law and Christianity; the recognition of places of public worship such as temples and churches; the formation of religious associations as corporations and trusts; and the extent of the legal effect of the constitution and rules of such bodies. It is also concerned with matters of property and family law, and various applications of the concept of privilege in the religious sphere. See also Christian; Freedom of religion; Worship. (Church of the New Faith v Cmr of Pay-roll Tax (Vic) (1983) 154 CLR 120)。 另見 Christian; Freedom of religion; Worship。n. |
