释义 | 賭注 1. A sum of money staked in respect of an uncertain future event. The essence of a bet is that on the determination of an event in one way, one party wins and the other party loses: A-G v Luncheon and Sports Club Ltd [1929] AC 400 (HL). Examples of events of doubtful outcome are horse races, dog races, football matches, or other sporting events. There would be no bet if the defendant did not stake anything: Seay v Eastwood & Anor [1976] 3 All ER 153, 1 WLR 1117 (HL). 2. The tender by an intending backer of his selection of horse or horses pertaining to a particular pool or pools either through telephone betting or the medium of a betting ticket and which tender becomes eligible under the rules to be included in the pool to which the selection relates: Betting Rules by he Stewards of Hong Kong Jockey Club.
