释义 | 還押 To stand a matter over until a future date and as a consequence return the accused to custody or to continue bail. A defendant may be remanded to a gaol where it is necessary to adjourn the trial, for example, in the course of committal proceedings, it becomes necessary or desirable in the opinion of the magistrate to defer any stage of those proceedings; or in the event of a preliminary inquiry, to defer the examination or further examination of the witnesses for any time: Magistrates Ordinance (Cap 227) s 79(1).
