释义 | 剝奪民事權利 Formerly, the relinquishment of the civil rights of an offender which occurred when a death sentence was passed on the offender. The consequences of attainder included the forfeiture and escheat of the offender’s land: Dugan v Mirror Newspapers Ltd (1978) 142 CLR 583. With the abolition of the death penalty in Hong Kong, the doctrine is no longer current, but may possibly be applied to an offender outlawed for treason.
