| 释义 | 款項繳存法院 In any action for a debt or damages, the payment of a sum or sums of money into court by any defendant at any time in satisfaction of the cause of action in respect of which the plaintiff claims: The Rules of the High Court (Cap 4A) O 22 r 1(1). Immediately on notice of acceptance being given by the plaintiff to every defendant, all further proceedings must be stayed either in the action or in respect of the specified cause or causes of action to which the acceptance relates, both against the defendant making the payment and against any other defendant sued jointly with or in the alternative to him: O 22 r 3(4). Such a payment is not, however, a defence to the action: Cumper v Pothecary [1941] 2 KB 58 (CA).
