释义 | 上議院 1. In England, the upper house of Parliament. 2. The Final Court of Appeal in England and Wales and Northern Ireland. Until 1948, all appeals to the House of Lords were heard in the chamber of the House. Appeals are now heard by the Appeal Committee, which usually consists of five Lords Ordinary of Appeal. The House of Lords has the power to correct any injustice caused by an earlier order of the House: R v Bow Street Metropolitan Stipendiary Magistrate & Ors, ex p Pinochet Ugarte (No 2) [2000] 1 AC 119 (HL). 1. 指英國國會的上議院。 2. 指英格蘭、威爾斯及北愛爾蘭的終審法院。直止1948年,所有向上議院作出的上訴在上議院內庭進行聆訊。現時上訴由五位上訴法院常任高級法官組成的上訴委員會進行聆訊。上議院具有更正因其在較早時所作出的命令而引致的不公正情況的權利:R v Bow Street Metropolitan Stipendiary Magistrate & Ors, ex p Pinochet Ugarte (No 2) [2000] 1 AC 119(上議院)。 |
