释义 | 宣戰 A communication from one sovereign state to another that the condition of peace previously existing between them has ended. In international law, a declaration of war or an ultimatum backed by the threat of hostilities is legally necessary before hostilities commence: International Convention Relative to the Opening of Hostilities (Hague Convention III) 1907 art 1. A declaration of war contradicts the principles of non-aggression enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations 1945: Charter of the United Nations art 51.
