释义 | 法定貨幣 A mode of payment which is regarded by law as sufficient and valid. In Hong Kong, the issue of notes is governed by Legal Tender Notes Issue Ordinance (Cap 65); and the issue of coins is governed by Coinage Ordinance (Cap 454). Legal tender notes mean currency notes issued in Hong Kong by the Financial Secretary pursuant to the Legal Tender Notes Issue Ordinance (Cap 65) s 3(1); and banknotes issued in Hong Kong by a note-issuing bank in accordance with the terms and conditions (if any) to which its authorisation (or deemed authorisation) under s 3(2) is subject: Legal Tender Notes Issue Ordinance (Cap 65) s 2. Coins of denominations of not less than $1 are legal tender for any amount not exceeding $100; and coins in denominations of less than $1 are legal tender for any amount not exceeding $2: Coinage Ordinance (Cap 454) s 2(1).
