In relation to damages, expenses incurred in travelling from one place to another, as a consequence of a defendant’s wrongful conduct. Where travelling costs have been incurred for the purpose of obtaining medical treatment, the expenses are recoverable if the plaintiff can show that they were reasonably incurred in the circumstances: for example Wong Tin & Anor v Yuen Hing-Kwan & Anor [1979] HKLR 396. Travelling costs may include the companion’s travel expenses when the plaintiff was accompanied on such treatment: Leung Lai Ha & Anor v Ho Sau Ling Fanny & Anor [1993] 2 HKC 476. See also Damages.
