| 释义 | 國際航空協會 Abbr – IATA An organisation founded at the Hague in 1919 and serving a quasi-governmental role in the commercial regulation of air transport. IATA acquired legal status as a result of its incorporation by an act of the Canadian Parliament in 1945. The IATA has two main functions: it is a trade association for airlines, on behalf of which it participates in discussion and lobbying in relation to legal issues, economic forecasting, technical research and political and public relations matters; and it engages in tariff co-ordination activities, including the negotiation and agreement of scheduled international airfares, agency commissions and a strict accreditation system for travel agents. Only scheduled airlines operating under the authority of a state eligible for International Civil Aviation Organisation membership are eligible for membership of the IATA. There are four organs which make up the association: the annual general meeting; the executive committee; the secretariat; and the standing committees. Action formulated by IATA is always subject to the approval of the government concerned. IATA makes no attempt to control entry into the market or the number of flights and seats to be made available.
