A statement of the human rights of an individual in a society. In Hong Kong, the Bill of Rights is set out in the Hong Kong Bill of Rights Ordinance (Cap 383) pt II s 8, which gives legislative effect to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR). Similarly the Basic Law of the Hong Kong SAR art 39 provides, among other things, that the provisions of the ICCPR as applied to Hong Kong shall remain in force and shall be implemented through the laws of the Hong Kong SAR, and that rights and freedoms enjoyed by Hong Kong residents shall not be restricted unless prescribed by law.
