| 释义 | Plc Abbreviation for a public limited company in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. Prior to 1980, the names of both public and private companies in the United Kingdom ended with the word ‘Limited’, there being no distinction between the two types of company made in their names. Legislation requiring the abbreviation ‘plc’ to appear at the end of the name of a public company was passed in 1980 to give effect to the Second European Economic Community Directive on Company Law Harmonisation.
