A debt proved to exist by the official records of a court of record, for instance, recognisances and judgment debts or debts created by, for example, the judgment and decrees of courts of record. 2. A debt which is entered by a court and is legally enforceable. It is entered in the court records and remains valid until set aside by a court of competent jurisdiction: Bank of Athens v Royal Exchange Assurance [1938] 1 All ER 514, 1 KB 771.
