释义	生存的權利 The universal and inherent right to be, which shall be protected by law and includes the right of every person not to be arbitrarily deprived of his or her life: Hong Kong Bill of Rights Ordinance (Cap 383) s 8 art 2(1); International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights 1966 art 6(1); Universal Declaration of Human Rights 1948 art 3. It is the supreme right from which no derogation is permitted even in times of public emergency which threaten the life of the nation: Hong Kong Bill of Rights Ordinance (Cap 383) s 8 art 5(2)(c). Abortion and child destruction are only permitted in certain circumstances: Offences Against the Person Ordinance (Cap 212) ss 46-47B.
