| 释义 | 扣管／羈留 To seize or confiscate or to confine in an enclosed space. Civil Procedure - Documents which have been put in evidence on the trial of an action are in the custody of the court and may be impounded by order of the court: Beck v Value Capital Ltd [1974] 3 All ER 437, [1975] 1 WLR 1. Real property - The taking of possession by a landlord of property of a tenant on a failure to pay rent: Abingdon Rural District Council v O’ Gorman [1968] 3 All ER 79, 2 QB 811 (CA). Impounding may occur to secure the payment of a debt, or to prevent recurrent breaches of the law. In the former case, the property will be released when the debts is paid; in the latter, the property will be released after the appropriate pounding fees are paid. The bailiff may impound, or otherwise secure the property seized in or on the house or premises chargeable with the rent or may remove the same: Landlord and Tenant (Consolidation) Ordinance (Cap 7) s 92.
