This form of liability has been replaced by the ordinary principles of negligence. Where injury or damage is caused by an animal ferae naturae (dangerous species) its keeper is generally strictly liable for any injury or damage it causes: Perry Jonathan Brink (An Infant) v The New PG Farm [1966] HKLR 438. In Hong Kong, it is held that buffaloes are domestic animals and not ferae naturae: Ng Kwei v Tang Kwai and A-G [1963] HKLR 841.
