Irreconcilable |
In family law, unable to be put back together; unresolvable. Where a relationship has broken down and the parties are found to be unable to resolve their differences an irreconcilable breakdown of the marriage may be said to have occurred. In many foreign jurisdictions this is the basis for the granting of no fault divorces. However, in Hong Kong, the condition precedent to the granting of a decree nisi is said to be the irretrievable breakdown of the marriage: Matrimonial Causes Ordinance (Cap 179) s 11. See also Decree nisi; Divorce. n. |
