Ticket |
1. A document or voucher entitling a person to travel on a train, bus, ferry or other mode of transport for a particular journey or type of journey. A ticket may represent a binding contract between the parties. Any conditions on the ticket must be reasonably brought to the notice of the other party: Interfoto Picture Library Ltd v Stiletto Visual Programmes Ltd [1989] QB 433, [1988] 1 All ER 348 (CA). Where a ticket is handed by one party to the other at about the time a contract is made between them, the manner in which the contract is made may depend on two factors: (1) whether the ticket is intended to be a contractual document; and (2) the mode of its issue. In the case of ‘exact fare one man’ buses which is the norm in Hong Kong the contract is made when the passenger upon entering the bus deposits the fare into the box kept for this purpose: Wilkie v London Passenger Transport Board [1947] 1 All ER 258 (CA). 2. In connection with football betting activities and lotteries activities, an instrument used or to be used to record the placing of a bet with a football betting conductor or lottery conductor; and claim any prize that is payable on the bet or lottery: Betting Duty Ordinance (Cap 108) ss 6W(3), 6Z(3). See also Contract; Passenger; Ticket cases; Ticket-holding passenger; Travel ticket. 1. 另見 Contract; Passenger; Ticket cases; Ticket-holding passenger; Travel ticket。n. |
