释义	選舉候選人 A person who stands nominated as a candidate at an election. Only permanent residents of the Hong Kong SAR shall have the right to stand for election in accordance with law: Basic Law art 26. A candidate also means a person who, at any time before the close of nominations for an election, has publicly declared an intention to stand as a candidate at the election: Elections (Corrupt and Illegal Conduct) Ordinance (Cap 554) s 2. The kinds of elections include an election to elect the Chief Executive; a general election to elect the members of the Legislative Council; a by-election to fill a vacancy in the membership of the Legislative Council; an election to elect members of the Election Committee; an ordinary election to elect the elected members of a District Council; a by-election to fill a vacancy in the membership of a District Council; an election to elect members of the Heung Yee Kuk; an election to elect a person as the Chairman or Vice-Chairman or a member of the Executive Committee of a Rural Committee; or an election to elect a village representative: s 4. As to candidate for the Legislative Council Election, the Legislative Council Ordinance (Cap 542) contains provisions for the qualification for nomination as candidate in elections through geographical constituencies, functional constituencies and the Election Committee: Legislative Council Ordinance (Cap 542) s 37. As to candidate for the election of District Councils, the District Council Ordinance (Cap 547) provides for the qualification for nomination as candidate of district councils election.
