释义	釋義部份 The section of a statute under which a large number of definitions have been consolidated: for example Companies Ordinance (Cap 32) s 2. Most statutes contain an interpretation or definition section or schedule which declares the meaning which certain words and expressions bear or include for the purposes of the statute in question: Robinson v Barton-Eccles Local Board (1883) 8 AC 798 (HL); Mightystream Ltd v A-G [1982] HKLR 56 (CA). As a rule, it ought as a matter of drafting to be used for interpreting words which are ambiguous or equivocal only, and not so as to give an artificial meaning to words the ordinary meaning of which is plain: Hong Kong Racing Pigeon Assn Ltd v A-G [1995] 2 HKC 201 (CA). The definitions are listed in alphabetical order in the English version, while in the Chinese version they are listed in the order of the number of strokes in the first Chinese character of the headwords. Other definitions with specific applications are located in other parts of the legislation. An interpretation section does not necessarily apply in all the possible contexts in which a word may be found in the statute: Davies Jenkins & Co Ltd v Davies (Inspector of Taxes) [1968] AC 1097, [1967] 1 All ER 913 (HL). If a defined expression is used in a context which the definition will not fit, it may be interpreted according to its ordinary meaning: Strathern v Padden [1926] SC(J) 9.
