In coroners law, the place of death. In order for a coroner to exercise or be obliged to exercise his duties, Hong Kong need not be the place of death. As long as the body is brought within the territory of the Hong Kong SAR, a coroner has jurisdiction. Further, for a coroner to exercise his duties, thes place of death need not necessarily be determined as in cases where the body has been destroyed, or the body cannot be recovered or found. If death takes place in an aircraft or at sea, a coroner may also have jurisdiction even if the body is not brought to Hong Kong: Hong Kong Civil Aviation (Investigations of Accidents) Regulations (Cap 448B).
