Crown |
1. The Monarch in his or her public capacity as a body politic. The Crown is the highest branch of the legislature, the head of Executive power, and the fountain of justice and honour. As ‘the King can do no wrong’, the Crown was not liable in tort, nor was it liable for the torts of the Crown servants; they, however, are liable personally for their own torts. 2. Generally, a description indicating the prosecution; for example, a witness for the Crown, or the case for the Crown. See also Crown case; Crown immunity; Indictment; Queen; Representing the Government; Sovereign. 1. 另見 Crown case; Crown immunity; Indictment; Queen; Representing the Government; Sovereign。n. |
