| 股市指數 An index that measures the value of a presumed portfolio of stocks. The stocks in the portfolio are chosen in such a way so that the movement of the overall market can be accurately reflected. The index therefore facilitates investors to analyse the market conditions over time. An index can also reflect the performance of a particular sector like transportation or banking.
