An international agreement which aimed to abolish trade discrimination and to foster economic development by requiring member states to treat foreign and domestic products equally. The GATT 1947 originally had 23 members. By 1994, over 110 governments accounting for over 80% of world trade had become parties to the agreement. Under the auspices of the GATT 1947, eight tariff concession negotiation rounds were concluded, culminating in the Marrakesh Agreement establishing the World Trade Organisation 1994. See also General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade 1994. 簡稱－ GATT 1947　　旨在通過規定平成員國須平等對待外國和本地產品從而消除貿易歧視及促進經濟發展的國際協議。1947年關稅及貿易總協定原有23個成員國。直至1994年，佔世界貿易總量80%以上的110多國政府已成為協議的締約方。在1947年關貿總協定的基礎上，進行了八輪關稅寬減的談判，並最後產生了《1994年建立世界貿易組織的馬拉喀什協議》。另見 General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade 1994。
