A guarantee issued by a bank or surety company to guarantee the performance of commercial contract, for example, the sale of goods or construction work, as opposed to a loan or other financial contract. 2. A bond on which the capital and income return (that is the principal and interest) are guaranteed by a party other than the issuer. Guaranteed bonds or stocks become, in effect, debenture (unsecured) bonds of the guarantor.
