释义	本金、委託人、主債務人 1.A sum of money owed as a debt, upon which interest is calculated. The sum is repayable upon maturity. 2. The capital or main body of an estate or financial holding. 3. A person who empowers another to act as that person’s representative, for example as an agent or broker. 4. A person having prime responsibility for an obligation. Agency - 1.A person who confers upon an agent the authority to act on the person’s behalf for the purpose of creating or affecting legal rights and duties between the person and third parties: International Harvester Co of Australia Pty Ltd v Carrigan’s Hazeldene Pastoral Co (1958) 100 CLR 644 (HC). The determining feature in an agency relationship is the fiduciary obligation owed by the agent to the person for whom he acts: Ireland v Livingston (1872) LR 5 HL 395. 2. Education and research - The head of an educational institution such as a school or research institute who is responsible for the administration and management of the institution. The principal of a school is required, subject to the directions of the management committee, to be responsible for the teaching and discipline of the school and for such purposes the principal has authority over the teachers and pupils of the school: Education Ordinance (Cap 279) s 58(1). The Director of Education may address the principal of a school on any matter relating to the teaching and discipline in the school, and in such case the principal is required to conduct correspondence directly with the Director: s 58(2). A person for whom a contract worker does work under a contract between the contract worker’s employer and the person.
