Based in Jakarta, ASEAN has as its goals the accelerations of economic growth, cultural development and social progress, the promotion of collaboration and mutual assistance in matters of common interest, and the continuing stability of the South East Asian region: ASEAN Declaration 1967 arts 1-7. ASEAN comprises 9 nations: Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
