释义	當值律師 Lawyers who are representing defendants under the Duty Lawyer Scheme, and paid by the Duty Lawyer Service. They assist people, like those in custody, for the application of bail, mitigation, representation during trials and giving advice. Failure to inform the client of the availability of the assistance of a duty lawyer and where to apply and failure to recommend the client to apply may lead to a claim in negligence: Hong Kong Solicitors’ Guide to Professional Conduct 4.01. 指根據當值律師計劃代表被告人出庭、並由當值律師服務處支付其費用的律師。當值律師協助被當局扣押等有關人士申請保釋、減輕刑罰、進行審訊時作法律代表及提供法律意見。倘若沒有告知有關當事人他／她可獲得當值律師協助，或沒有告知他／她申請當值律師協助的地方，以及沒有向被告人建議申請，則可導致疏忽的申索：香港律師公會的《專業操守指引》第4.01條。
