Signification |
Notification or communication by a drawee to the person entitled to a bill of exchange of the drawee’s acceptance of the bill. The assent by the drawee to the order of the drawer must be signified to constitute a valid acceptance: Bills of Exchange Ordinance (Cap 19) s 17(1). No words signifying acceptance are necessary; a mere signature is enough: s 17(2). The drawee thereby becomes the acceptor: Rowe v Young (1820) 2 Bligh 391 (HL). See also Acceptor; Assent by the drawee; Bill of exchange; Delivery; Drawee; Drawer. Acceptor; Assent by the drawee; Bill of exchange; Delivery; Drawee; Drawer。n. |
