| 释义 | 歐洲共同體 Abbr – EC A community of European nations founded as a move toward creating a union, and away from the previous existing situation of competing nation states. The EC contains a number of smaller specialist communities of the same member states. These include the European Economic Community, the European Coal and Steel Community, and the European Atomic Energy Community which were respectively established by the Treaty Establishing the European Economic Community 1957, Treaty Establishing the European Coal and Steel Community 1957, and the Treaty Establishing the European Atomic Energy Community 1957. The community has its own revenue derived from customs duties and import levies collected at the external frontier of the member states, a rate on the harmonised assessment base of the value-added tax of member states and a rate to the sum of the gross national product of all member states. Since the Treaty of European Union 1992, it is now known as the ‘European Union’.
