A written order issued by a court commanding the person to whom it is directed to do or refrain from doing a specified act. Writs may be issued to originate an action (writ of summons) (The Rules of the High Court (Cap 4A) O 6 r 1), during the course of proceedings (interlocutory writ), or after final judgment (writ of execution) (O 45 r 14).
