释义	集體誹謗 A situation where the imputation is directed to a class of persons. Under such circumstances, no individual belonging to the class is entitled to say that the publication is directed at him personally. Since defamation entails an attack on the reputation of an individual, and class libel is not actionable or not capable in law of referring to an individual plaintiff, the class imputed cannot be defamed as a class nor can an individual belonging to the class be defamed by way of general reference: Charles Sin Cho Chiu v Tin Tin Publication Development Ltd & Louie King Bun (HCA 6662/97, unreported). Also known as ‘class libel’.
