释义	債務工具中央結算系統 Abbr – CMU An unit established by the Monetary Affairs Branch of the Government – the predecessor of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) Unit in 1990 to provide computerised clearing and settlement facilities for Exchange Fund Bills and Notes, and subsequently for other Hong Kong dollar debt securities, and non-Hong Kong dollar debt securities. It offers a clearing and custodian system for debt instruments denominate in Hong Kong dollar and other currencies. The CMU has been linked to international clearing systems such as Euroclear and Cedel and other domestic systems in the region since December 1994. This helps to promote Hong Kong debt securities to overseas investors who can make use of this link to participate in the Hong Kong dollar debt market, and in the other direction, investors in Hong Kong and the region can trade and hold international securities through their accounts in the CMU.
