Conflict of laws - A person who emigrates from his or her country of domicile to another country, with a view to becoming a resident there and subject to its law. According to most states’ citizenship laws, a migrant loses the rights, privileges, and immunities of former domicile upon acquiring a new citizenship. See also Citizenship; Permanent resident; Immigrant. n. |
