A compilation involves skill and effort or includes some forms of creative aspects. It may be protected by copyright as a literary work: Copyright Ordinance (Cap 528) s 4(1). It may qualify for protection from copying without permission: Elanco Products Ltd v Mandrops Ltd [1979] FSR 46; Dr Lam Tai Hing v Dr Koo Chih Ling Linda & Anor [1993] 2 HKC 1, [1994] 1 HKLR 329.
