The People’s Republic of China does not recognise dual nationality for any Chinese national: Promulgation of National Laws 1997 (Cap 2402) sch 4 art 3. Chinese living in Hong Kong and Macau were not regarded as overseas Chinese, they were regarded as having Chinese nationality and were Chinese citizens: Communiqué of the Supreme People’s Court of the People’s Republic of China (12 February 1958).
