释义	保證人 Lat. In Roman law, a surety; a guarantor. One who vouches for or is responsible for a person or thing. In relation to equity securities, a sponsor is responsible for preparing the new applicant for listing, for lodging the formal application for listing and all supporting documents with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and for dealing with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on all matters arising in connection with the application. The sponsor must satisfy himself, on all available information, that the issuer is suitable to be listed and, in the case of a corporate issuer, he must also satisfy himself that its directors appreciate the nature of their responsibilities and can be expected to honour their obligations under the Listing Rules and the Listing Agreement: Listing Rules paras 3.01-3.04. Citizenship and migration - In relation to an applicant for a visa, a person who undertakes the obligations of a sponsor in relation to the applicant. For example, in relation to persons who do not have the right of abode or right to land in Hong Kong and intend to enter Hong Kong for training or educational purposes, the sponsor must guarantee in writing the maintenance and repatriation of the trainee and that the trainee will receive training in the sponsor’s premises until the end of the agreed period, after which the trainee will return to his place of residence. A student applicant is required to name a local sponsor who agrees to sign an undertaking to support and provide accommodation to the student. In addition, the sponsor is held responsible for the repatriation of the student where necessary. The sponsor is required to produce proofs of financial standing and accommodation.
