释义 | 背書人 A person who makes an indorsement. Any person who signs a bill or note otherwise than as drawer or acceptor incurs the liabilities of an indorser to a holder in due course: Bills of Exchange Ordinance (Cap 19) s 56; The Wing On Bank Ltd v Tech-Craft Industries Ltd [1975] HKLR 533. By indorsing a bill the indorser engages that, on due presentment, the bill will be accepted and paid according to its tenor; and that he will compensate the holder or a subsequent indorser compelled to pay the bill if it is dishonoured, provided that the requisite proceedings are taken on dishonour: Bills of Exchange Ordinance (Cap 19) s 55(2)(a).
