| 释义 | 馬城條約 A treaty which came into effect on 1 November 1993, creating the European Union (EU) and committing the EU to further steps in economic and monetary integration. The treaty, introduced to the 12 members of the European Community in 1991, received uncertain support in some countries but was finally ratified by all 12 nations in October 1993. Subsequently, several members of the European Free Trade Association joined the EU. Also known as the Treaty on the European Union. The Maastricht Treaty was later amended in 1996 by the Treaty of Amsterdam.
