释义 | 到期之日、期滿日 The predetermined date on which a borrower repays a lender, the date on which a debt or borrowing is due to be repaid or the capital refunded, and the date or time on which a note, bill, bond, debenture or loan is due to be repaid. Most securities, other than shares, have a fixed maturity date though they may be rolled over or renewed. Bills of Exchange - The last date upon which a bill, other than a bill payable on demand, is payable. The date for payment must be certain, being payable at a fixed future time, a fixed period after the date of the bill, a fixed period after sight (presentation for acceptance) or a fixed period after the occurrence of a specified event which is certain to happen (though the time of happening may be uncertain): Bills of Exchange Ordinance (Cap 19) s 11(1). If a bill is payable at a fixed period after date, after sight or after the happening of a specified event, the time of payment is determined by excluding the day from which the time is to begin to run and by including the day of payment: s 14(b). Additionally, in respect of a bill payable at a fixed period after sight, the time begins to run from the date of the acceptance if the bill is accepted, and from the date of noting or protest if the bill is noted or protested for non-acceptance, or for non-delivery: s 14(c). If a party pays on a bill before the maturity date, the party is treated as having bought the bill: Morley v Culverwell (1840) 7 M & W 174, 151 ER 727. The date on which foreign exchange is to be delivered or received under contract. 3. For a futures contract, the date or period within which a contract will be satisfied by delivery, unless sold. Insurance - The date on which an insurance policy becomes payable with bonuses.
