通告 Communication of notice. Agency - An agent has a duty to communicate to his or her principal any notice received or knowledge acquired by the agent of any fact material to the transaction which the agent is employed to transact on the principal’s behalf: Blackburn, Low & Co v Vigors (1887) 12 AC 531. See also Constructive notice; Disclosure; Imputed notice. Conflict of laws - A unilateral act of communication by a state, informing another state or organisation of a new fact or situation such as war, blockade, disarmament, troop movement, or new trade measure. Once notification is conveyed, it is presumed that the intended recipient knows the notified act or situation. Notification is a common feature in international law, and may have some legal effects in estoppel and acquiescence.
